Exact SciencesExact Sciences has developed a proprietary technology for a multitarget stool DNA test.   The test is widely available as a screening for colon cancer in a non-invasive manner.  Exact Sciences first calculated the essential issue of effectively isolating DNA from the stool material before being able to analyze their novel noninvasive colon cancer screening test .  Their scientist developed a proprietary QUARTS technology which magnifies and quantifies two distinct DNA markers.  Additionally, the technology quantifies distinct gene point mutations. Cologuard is available for colon screening.

Breast Cancer Research FoundationBreast Cancer Research Foundation – Research yields that a combination therapy of immunotherapy plus a PARP inhibitor with chemotherapy in patients with HER2-negative breast cancer has superior results.   Research in all breast cancer groups tested showed that there is a 37 percent pathological complete response (pCR) with the combination therapy, meaning no presence on invasive tumor in the breast lymph nodes at time of surgery. This compares favorably with a 20 percent pathological (pCR) response when using chemotherapy alone.

RegeneronRegeneron is an internationally recognized pharmaceutical company enhancing our lives by developing medicines in many areas.  Regeneron has a vast pipeline of new antibodies that are being tested to treat cancer. Their pipeline has eight unique antibodies that are at various stages in testing to treat cancer. For example, a new publication highlights preclinical research demonstrates the potential to enhance cancer treatment by combining novel costimulatory Science Translational Medicine paper, by combining CD 28 costimulatory bispecifics with Libtayo for prostate cancer or other epithelial cancers led to tumor killing by T-cells in animal models and cell cultures. Moreover, their combination overcame resistance of both cancers to anti-PD-1 monotherapy.  Regeneron’s bispecifics are designed to closely resemble human antibodies and to bind to two different targets. Thus, they allow for similar approaches used for human antibody medicines. Regeneron continues to develop their pipeline of new medicines for cancer treatments.

LillyLilly, a major pharmaceutical company, is making a difference in people’s lives by treating rare tumors and improving new treatments

Lilly formed a partnership with Lilly Research laboratories and Loxo Oncology to establish a flexible oncology group with vast experience.   The organization is responsible for research and development of their oncology pipeline.  New targeted therapies are being tested for breast cancer.

The Lilly Oncology Support Center is available to provide financial assistance information for those prescribed a Lilly Oncology product.

BioceptBiocept – New technologies are on the forefront as companies create procedures and methods to predict where tumor cells are present.   Recently, Biocept’s Target Selector technology could prove to be more sensitive than standard -of- care cytology in detecting mutations of brain metastases in the cerebrospinal fluid.  This technology is designed to provide physicians with more accurate information to improve the treatment of patients with cancer as the current method often results in false negative results. The technology allows doctors to anticipate treatment outcomes with patients that have cancer metastasized to the central nervous system. Biocept’s Target Selector can detect tumor cells and DNA and identify cancer associated biomarkers in cerebral spinal fluid. By identifying biomarkers, physicians can select targeted therapies.

Radiation for Prostate Cancer: Radiation therapy is the strategic use of specific radiation (ions) to inhibit and destroy cancer cells.  The process works by damaging the blueprint or DNA of the cancer cells.  This process kills the targeted cancer cells before they can grow or duplicate themselves.

Surgery for Prostate Cancer: When one has prostate cancer and the cancer is limited to the prostate, a portion or the whole prostate may be removed. Alternatively, hormone or chemotherapy may be used by the physician. Depending on the diagnosis, your physician will select from an array of treatments, including new technologies to treat your cancer, will attempting to be the least invasive. In certain severe situations, the entire prostate gland is removed to prevent the cancer from spreading to the lymph nodes.  The process of surgically removing the prostate gland is called radical prostatectomy. Doctors have a wide range of treatments available and will set forth a treatment plan that provides the greatest opportunity for a longer, healthier life.
